Marian Ministries houses and walks with mothers, children, and families across Kansas City and northeast Kansas.
A family of Catholic ministries · Two maternity homes, a pregnancy resource center, community outreach, and two thrift stores.
What we do
We run two maternity homes in the Kansas City area and a pregnancy resource center in Atchison. We also send case managers out to the families we don’t have room to house, which turns out to be most of them.
Between 100 and 150 women are referred to us each year. Our houses hold a fraction of that, so we go to the rest. On any given day, a staff of about twenty is walking with a hundred families, and eighty‑five percent of those families are in their own homes and neighborhoods rather than in ours.
The ministries
Each ministry is a piece of the same work, and a woman might reach us through any one of them.

Two stores, in Atchison and Gladstone. The Atchison store is staffed entirely by mothers who have come through our programs, and the revenue helps sustain every other ministry.
Inside the homes
A mother who moves in gets more than a bed. There are two orchards to work and a garden to cook from. There is pottery, music, and art. There is a chapel that stays open.
There is also real clinical care. We use evidence-based therapy and track depression, anxiety, and postpartum depression with the same assessments a good practice would use, so we know when a mother is genuinely getting better and when she needs something different.
Your part
Marian Ministries receives no government funding. Every bed, every case manager’s mile, every bag of groceries is covered by people who decided this mattered.
Most of them are from around here. They aren’t looking to be thanked, and a good number would rather not be named at all. They just want the work to keep going.
This is the first thing we ask for. Mass is Wednesday mornings at 9:30, and Adoration is the first Friday of every month. You are welcome at both.
More than thirty groups come through in a typical week. Parish groups, students, families. Some mulch the orchards. Some sit with our mothers. We’re also training a new group of Marian Mentors this fall, and we’re looking for men as much as women.
Find a Way to Serve →Fifteen dollars a month goes further than you’d expect, and a recurring gift is what lets us plan a year ahead instead of a month.

September 11 · The View at Briarcliff
Our largest night of the year, and what’s raised there shapes what we’re able to do for mothers and families over the following twelve months. It covers program expenses at St. Mary’s Home and Nativity House KC, community-based care across the metro and northeast Kansas, and basic costs for the stores in Atchison and Gladstone.
Who we are
