Phase 2 · Homepage design

Three directions for the Marian Ministries homepage

Each one is the full homepage, built with the new brand colors, the A028 and Georgia typefaces, the approved copy, and real photography from St. Mary’s. They share the same content and the same structure. What changes is the mood, the pacing, and how hard the brand pushes. Pick the one that feels like the ministry, and the rest of the site follows from it.

Light of DayRecommended

Airy · open · donor-confident

White and Through the Clouds carry the page, Celeste Blue anchors the type, and Bright Star is held back so it only ever means “give.” The photography does the emotional work. An arched hero photo nods to the medallion without leaning on it.

This is the safest strong option and the easiest to extend across five more pages and, later, the apostolate sites. It reads modern and well-funded without feeling corporate.

The Mantle

Warm · editorial · reverent

Buttermilk and cream instead of white, Immaculata Indigo as the ink, and Bright Star doing the accenting. Squared buttons, hairline rules, roman numerals, and a centered logo. Arched frames echo the medallion and the chapel window.

It reads like a beautifully printed annual report rather than a website, which suits an older, mid-size Catholic donor base. The ministries become an index rather than a card grid.

Light the Night

Cinematic · high contrast · gala energy

The page moves from night to morning. It opens in Immaculata Indigo under a star, breaks into Celeste Blue at the middle, and finishes in full daylight on the donate ask. The name comes from their own gala and from the Stella Maris already in the mark.

The boldest of the three and the strongest at pulling emotion. It asks the most of photography and needs a confident hand to keep from feeling heavy.

Night → dawn → day Highest contrast Best for the gala

What you’re looking at

All three are real, responsive pages, not flat mockups. Everything below is known and tracked, so nothing here is a surprise at build time.

Brand

  • Colors are the 2026 brand guide, not the June project brief. Primary is Celeste Blue, Our Lady of the Sky, Bright Star; secondary is Immaculata Indigo, Through the Clouds, Buttermilk.
  • Type is A028 for headings, Georgia for body, Red Hat Display for eyebrows and labels, per the guide.
  • A028 ships in a single weight, so hierarchy comes from size and color rather than bold and light.
  • The logo gold in the SVG files is #E4A951, slightly brighter than Bright Star #DBAB60. Worth reconciling in the guide.

Placeholders

  • Every apostolate mark is a gray box. Those identities are Phase 1 work and are not designed yet.
  • The testimonial is a written placeholder while the client gathers real quotes.
  • Nav links, Donate, and Volunteer all point to anchors on the page. Only the outbound apostolate links and the Qgiv gala link are live.

Photography

  • Most photos are real client photography pulled from the St. Mary’s media library. They are phone photos from a 2023 shoot, good enough for a preview but not for launch.
  • A few images are licensed stock standing in for what does not exist yet: the orchard, the gala, and the landscape. Their filenames all start with stock-.
  • There is no existing photography of fathers, the thrift stores, the chapel, or volunteer groups, all of which the copy names. A shoot would lift any of these three directions more than a design change would.

Open items

  • The 501(c)(3) status conflicts. The project brief says pending; the approved copy says it is granted and publishes EIN 42-2907788. The copy is newer, so that is what is on the page. Confirm before launch.
  • The Contact page is referenced by several CTAs but is not in the six-page scope.
  • Volunteer and Donate copy are still stubs in the copy doc.
  • Christmas Open House is shown as December 14; the questionnaire only gave the 14th, so the month is inferred.
